Your situation

The cases we see most often, and what we do.

A new wall-mounted or central heat pump

Dedicated circuit and outdoor disconnect based on the unit’s nameplate, cable route to the outdoor unit, hookup coordinated with the installer.

A panel with no space, or too small

The load calculation tells whether the addition fits. If not: a sub-panel or a 200 A upgrade. You know before buying the unit.

I’m switching from oil or baseboards to a heat pump

The heating load changes, sometimes a lot: a central heat pump with electric backup needs a large circuit. We redo the calculation and plan the panel accordingly.

I’m replacing an old unit

The existing circuit must match the new unit: wire size, breaker, disconnect. We check and adjust.

« Super service de William. Il répond rapidement aux demandes et prend le temps de bien expliquer les choix aux clients. Ils se sont présenté à l’heure déterminée et le résultat du travail est clean. Ils ont pris le temps de tout tester avant de partir. Sa plate-forme d’envoi de photo pour estimation et facturation est super simple d’utilisation aussi. Bref, je recommande assurément. »

Frequently asked questions

Can my 100 A panel handle a heat pump?

Sometimes. It depends on the existing loads (heating, range, water heater, EV charger). The load calculation decides.

Do I need a disconnect outside?

Yes, within sight of the outdoor unit, so power can be safely cut during maintenance.

Who installs the heat pump, and who does the electrical?

The installer mounts the unit and does the refrigeration; the electrician does the circuit, the disconnect and the hookup. We coordinate.

Is there a rebate for a heat pump?

Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert program offers assistance for some eligible heat pumps. Conditions and amounts are in the program’s official guide: check them before buying.

Is the estimate free?

Yes, and you get it within 24 hours. Describe the project by phone, by text or online, with a few photos if you can.
