Your situation

The cases we see most often, and what we do.

I’m redoing my kitchen

Each major appliance gets its own circuit. Counter outlets are protected and spaced according to the Code, the island gets its own, and under-cabinet lighting is planned before installation. We also check that the panel has room for it all.

I’m finishing the basement

Outlets, pot lights and circuits for the family room, office or bedroom. A bedroom requires interconnected smoke alarms and arc-fault breakers. We draw the plan with you before the first stud wall.

I’m renovating the bathroom

Fan, lighting, heated floor, GFCI-protected outlets: bathrooms have their own rules. We check the heated-floor circuit before the tile goes down.

My house has old wiring

Aluminum, old wiring, a fuse panel: we assess circuit by circuit. Anything dangerous or non-compliant is fixed first, with connectors and devices made for that wiring. What is sound stays.

I’m changing what a room is used for

A garage turned workshop, a bedroom turned office, an in-law suite: needs change, so do circuits. We plan the power supply and, if needed, a sub-panel.

Frequently asked questions

When should I call the electrician in a renovation?

As early as possible: at the planning stage, then while the walls are open for rough-in. It avoids undoing finishes.

My house has aluminum wiring: does it all need replacing?

Not necessarily. Aluminum wiring needs compatible connections and devices. The assessment lets us recommend the right fixes for your house.

Do the smoke alarms need replacing?

Often, when a bedroom is added or walls are opened: interconnected alarms are then required. We spell it out in the quote.

Do you work with my contractor?

Yes. We schedule our visits with the contractor and the other trades to keep the project on track.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Only for large projects. It is stated in the quote.
