How to tell
Look at your electricity bill: the utility’s name is on it. In Sherbrooke, part of the city is served by Hydro-Sherbrooke, a city service, and the rest by Hydro-Québec. Magog and Coaticook each have their own municipal network. Elsewhere in the Eastern Townships, it’s Hydro-Québec.
What it changes
- A new service entrance, or a 200 A upgrade. The supply request, shutoff and reconnection are done with your utility, according to its technical requirements and timelines. We handle it with you.
- An outage. You have to call the right network. For Hydro-Sherbrooke, the official outage page shows current interruptions and the number to report one (819 821-5728 according to the city’s website).
- Programs. Some Hydro-Québec programs are for its own customers; others accept municipal networks. We check what applies to you before bringing it up.

A connection with Hydro-Sherbrooke
- You submit the subscription request at least seven business days before the date you want, online or through customer service (819 821-5622), with the exact address clearly visible on the house.
- The master electrician sends the work declaration as soon as the installation is compliant; above 200 A, they also send a description of the loads.
- Hydro-Sherbrooke connects within seven business days, in a normal situation: under 200 A, a connection within 30 m of the network and a cleared corridor.
At Hydro-Québec, only CMEQ members can send the work request. For choosing between an overhead and an underground service, see Underground or overhead service entrance.
Programs

What we do for you
We note your utility from the first request, we know each one’s procedures, and we coordinate the shutoff, reconnection or connection so you don’t have to chase two organizations.
